Hypnosis has been used for pain relief for centuries, and is often used for patients undergoing surgery if they are allergic to anaesthetics.

It is known, that by using hypnosis, the brain’s response to pain signals can be reduced and that you can learn new ways of managing your pain.  When you relax you feel less pain, and through hypnosis you can actually reduce the amount of pain you perceive.  The management of chronic pain can be helped greatly by learning self-hypnosis, a technique, which will help you learn to relax into the pain and let go of it.

Milton Erickson, one of the world’s leading authorities in the use of clinical hypnosis, used the techniques of self-hypnosis to manage his own chronic pain resulting from two bouts of polio.

Please note that you should always consult your doctor about the cause of the pain before seeking the help of a hypnotherapist.
