Every year, for the past 14 years, the Mental Health Foundation have run a national mental health awareness week over one week in May. The purpose of these weeks, is to promote an understanding that certain aspects of your life, such as sleep, exercise, fear or friendship, also have an impact on your mental health.
This year from 12th to the 18th May, the theme is Anxiety. Many people experience anxiety at some point in their lives, but if that anxiety is not over come, it can develop into long term phobias or fears with many people finding it controlling their day to day lives.
For some, anxiety may arise during a period of stress, such as life changing events or loss. For others, it may develop as an aftermath, after having coped well during the stress.
As a hynotherapist, I work with a lot of people, of different ages, who suffer from anxiety. On Monday 12th May at 6pm, I will be holding a talk at Candela Clinical Hypnosis 19 Reading Road, Henley on Thames, where I will be explaining how anxiety impacts on our lives and teaching self hypnosis for relaxation and self belief.
The talk will be FREE but any donations will go to The Mental Health Foundation.
